The Berlin Congress Hall was the largest project the American architect Hugh A. Stubbins had undertaken at that time. From its opening onwards the building has enjoyed extraordinary popularity and was published widely, earning Stubbins widespread recognition in the USA. Its assertive political message and spectacular form earned both building and architect cover-features in the “Boston Globe” and “New York Times”.
